Grand Canyon

Arriving at Grand Canyon, we noticed the smoke in the distance and long lines to get into the park. We learned that these were controlled burns, but we had to be escorted in to the park through the smoky road.

Words can't describe this place!

ARIZONA!

Arrived in Arizona, at night.
Tucson, AZ.
Mission View RV Park was lovely and quiet.
San Xavier Mission had lots of history!

Interesting cactii!
A real Dust Devil! We thought is was going to come at us, but it subsided.

Saguaro National Park Niece, Kelly with hubby, Dave and daughter, Leeah

We went to Phoenix to visit my brother, Don and his wife, Judy. Our refrigerator quit working on Saturday night. We had planned on leaving on Sunday, but had to wait until Monday to get it fixed. We ended up staying in Phoenix longer than planned. I guess there was a reason. We enjoyed our time with family. Judy was a perfect hostess every night.
We visited my brother, Bob, who has had two strokes. He still has quite a sense of humor, though. I think he enjoyed our visit.
Thanks, Don and Judy! Hope we didn't overstay our welcome!

Arizona sunsets are beautiful!

It's time to catch up!

Glad to be in Alabama, finally, if only for a short time.
At least we are out of Florida! Made it to Louisiana. Drove through New Orleans and had some lunch. They are still rebuilding several areas. The roads are a mess!

Arrived in Texas. It is HOT. HOT. HOT.
We think there is no end to Texas!!!

Stopped in San Antonio and went to see The Alamo Historic site.
I think we learned something.
Texas is a desert...Did I mention it never ends!!!

We found a little RV Park to spend a night.

They had this old car that caught Bob's eye.
I thought the pony was cute.

We made it to New Mexico.
No time for stopping. We are headed to Arizona.

Interesting cactus!

The Adventure Begins

Saturday, June 13th 2009, we began our Westward Adventure in the RV.
We left home shortly after noon. We made it to the Florida Panhandle and spent our first night in a rest area between Tallahassee and Pensacola.
